With the sunny spring weather lately I have been getting a ton of requests in my inbox for a healthy, dairy-free and raw milkshake alternative. This spring strawberry shortcake beauty smoothie is loaded with antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids and even a little CLA if you use coconut milk to help keep you looking young, slim and glowing. Plus its gorgeous pink colour and sweet, rich taste will satisfy any sweet tooth’s craving for a guilt-free creamy treat that is like strawberry shortcake in a glass. It would also be fabulous using raspberries or pitted sweet cherries instead of strawberries. Enjoy!
Raw Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie
1 medium ripe banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2-3/4 cup raw almond or coconut milk
1Tb soaked cashews (optional, but adds a nice creaminess and richness)
1Tb raw hemp hearts
1/4 tsp Ground Vanilla Bean Powder
Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth, rich and creamy. Pour into a pretty glass and garnish with a fresh strawberry. Enjoy all of the milkshake flavour without the unhealthy or bloated consequences. This recipe is also fantastic frozen into Popsicle molds or run through an ice cream machine for a healthy frozen treat.
