Most Delicious Green Smoothie + 30 Day Challenge

The biggest barrier people have to drinking green smoothies is that they think they’re going to taste gross, gritty, and generally be a horrible experience.

 

Except here’s the kicker: green smoothies are so yummy!  This is my magical formula to create the most delicious green smoothie ever, one that kids love (just tell them that Tinkerbell, Rainbow Dash, or Elsa’s favorite color of smoothie is green) and even green smoothie skeptics will admit they enjoy.

Here are a few tips to making sure your green smoothie is as lovely and delicious as possible:

  1. Use either frozen mango or banana in your smoothie.  It will create a thick, creamy, milkshake texture and add fruity sweetness that covers the taste of the greens.  Over time, as your taste buds adjust, reduce the fruit and increase the greens.  Blend your smoothies really well so that they’re completely smooth with no little pieces of greens.  Texture is important.
  2. Color theory!  I am admittedly a huge color geek and am fascinated with color theory.  Mixing red or purple with green will create a muddy, murky brown.  Although your creation will probably still taste great, many people can’t get past a less appetizing color.  I tend to make sure I use purple kale with berry smoothies and green greens with more yellow/gold fruits for the prettiest smoothie colors.  If certain colors (green included) might freak you or your green smoothie resistant loved ones out, try serving it in an opaque closed travel mug instead.
  3. Start with just a little bit of a mild green, such as baby spinach at first and work your way up to larger amounts and stronger flavored greens as your taste buds adjust.  Making small, steady steps forward is the way to easily transition to living a healthier lifestyle.  It doesn’t have to be all or nothing and overnight.  Progress, not perfection, my loves.  ❤

30 Day Challenge:

I challenge you to drink one green smoothie every day (all whole ingredients, no added sugar, juice, dairy, soy, or sorbet) for 1 month.  Of course, check with your doctor and pharmacist first to ensure it is suitable for you, but once you get the medical green light, write down a few things just to keep track.  Present weight?  Waist circumference at your belly button?  Energy level on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most energy ever?  Typical mood?  Stress level on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being your most stressed out?  Physical pain level on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst pain imaginable to you?  Mental Clarity on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the worst brain fog ever and 10 being complete mental clarity.

Most Delicious Green Smoothie Ever

1/2 C frozen mango

1/2 C frozen pineapple

1/8 of a ripe avocado

Handful of spinach, kale, or your favorite green

Pinch of Ground Vanilla Bean Powder

3/4 C unsweetened coconut or almond milk

 

Add all ingredients into a high speed blender.  Cover tightly and blend until completely smooth.  Enjoy immediately!
